Kigali City

The city of Kigali is the Capital of Rwanda. The city is located within a 3 hours drive from the Volcanoes National Park which is Rwanda’s major tourist attraction, and it is mainly characterized by a moderate high altitude climate. Kigali is the country’s most vibrant point mainly because it is made up of the following; an administrative center with numerousadministrative office bases, a transport center with the major Airport, a political center with the Parliament, a communication center with the main Television and Radio stations, a Business center operating the major commercial businesses  and accommodation center with places like Guest Houses, Lodges, Hotels, Motels, Inns which all range from very budget to very luxuryones.

There are 3 major districts that make up the city of Kigali, these are; Nyarugenge, Kicukiro, and Gasabo districts.  The city provides both a comfortable and welcoming introduction to the land of a thousand hills and an ideal springboard from which to explore the country.

When it comes to the issue of the Population of the people, the city is known to contain approximately one million people. Out of the one million, 60% are youth and the rest are elders. More still in terms of Gender, it is balancing since men and women are equal and each contributes 50% of the total population. Though it is the country’s capital city, a large portion of about 70% is a rural area.

The city contains quite a number of tourist attractions, the major ones being; the Genocide Memorial sites of Gisozi and the markets like Nyabugogo which is the largest in the country. There are also different shops like gift shops with cow bone jewelry, Rwandan batik and nesting baskets called agaseke.
